Commercial Week: Fortnight - O, Canada!
While there are many more lingerie commercials we could spotlight, Fortnight certainly got it's share of attention for their Super Sexy CPR spot that went viral. The above report from Fashion Television includes not only the original commercial, but the knee-deep hoopla surrounding it. And who knows how many lives it may have saved by now? Pretty safe to say it's caused a few hearts to beat faster..

Commercial Week: Intimissimi Explains Why You Should Have Studied Cinema
From the credits of this Intimissimi commercial featuring actress-model-web entrepreneur-MTV and TLC reality cast member Valeria Tignini and the music of Gianna Nannini (but filmed in NYC?) I'm starting to regret my course of studies didn't include Film. Then again, who needs special effects to (politely) undress a woman with their eyes? I do it all the time with my girlfriend, and she's given me no objections. Then again, I've never turned a fire hose on her, either..

Commercial Week: Taking A Cotton To Miranda Kerr
Note: this was Thursday's post. Thanks to Blogger-pocalypse*, it was gone. Note to fellow Blogger users: Check your Scheduled Posts - anything missing may be there.
Only a matter of time before we'd address Vicky's commercials. True, everyone thinks of the Michael Bay Explode-athons.. but what about a quieter example that disproves the idea that cotton is neither sexy nor lingerie? Having Miranda Kerr as your instructor helps, of course..

Commercial Week: La Perla - Banned?
Whether this message for La Perla was ever banned or not, I don't know. Consider it a Public Service if we're the first to show it to anyone who would have otherwise missed it.
Commercial Week: Cintia Dicker For Aerie - Too Racie?
As with yesterday's post, some lingerie commercials are classics. Too early to tell if this one from American Eagle's Aerie will be one, but it's for their Summer 2011 Pretty Is Everywhere campaign, starring Brazil's Cintia Dicker. The website Lingerie Talk (one you should be following, by the way) takes note of some attention the above ad is receiving. Too racy? Check it out and let us know what you think. The You Tube posting has 180 or so thoughts on the matter.
And maybe Ms. Dicker's Aerie Emma Floral Extreme push-up bra and panties ensemble can be a slight extension of our May Flowers Week.
ps-
No offense to any other image in the video, but I had just finished the post and was closing windows when I happened to notice where I'd paused the video by chance. Tell me that's not a great image right there.

Commercial Week - Kylie Minogue For Agent Provocateur
If you're going to feature lingerie commercials, how can you not highlight this 2001 gem starring a woman who seems have been born to wear lingerie, Kylie Minogue for Agent Provocateur? I'd suppose it had even more impact when shown in movie theaters, especially if you didn't already know what her tag was going to be. Have a behind-the-scenes look as well:

May Flowers 2011: Axami
From Poland's Axami, flowers that can be described rather coldly as 'V-1091' or as their Spicy push-up bra and string panties, depending on which website they're on. I'd say 'Spicy' is preferred, but make your own decision:

fufL Sunday Extra Video: Zoe Saldana For Calvin Klein Underwear
Watching the Red Carpet coverage of the Emmy Awards tonight on E!? Expect to see this uncoverage of Zoe Saldana for Calvin Klein Underwear debuting just before the awards begin. You may think I'm crazy, but aside from the most obvious things you may notice in the ads, Ms. Saldana has an incredibly cool voice. (If I'd seen Avatar, I might have noticed much earlier..) Happy National Underwear Day 2010!

Hopefully, you're wearing something special in celebration (and all those who insist commando is the way to go, go along just this once.. sort of like everyone being Irish on St. Patrick's Day).
The folks behind it, freshpair.com, are having their celebration on-line as opposed to taking over New York City's Times Square (above and below) as in years past (can't rain, no expensive NYC permits, parking's better, no one catches a cold, or gets arrested, right?) Considering we hold a celebration of lingerie and underwear on-line all the time, makes sense to us.
They also did a little research this year, and uncovered the following:
24% of American men have a lucky pair of underwear
40% of men prefer briefs and 10% boxers;
the rest either are wearing trunks, boxers briefs, thongs, or nothing
34% of American women match their bras to their panties
26% of women prefer bikini briefs
21% of women prefer briefs
21% of women prefer thongs
18% of women prefer boyshorts
4% of women prefer other styles
(so that's who's been buying bloomers..)
For those who don't care for the Nothing option, through August 14th you can enter to win part of 5000 pairs of underwear (as we speak, my girlfriend is not doubt signing up for a couple hundred more email accounts..)
By coincidence, just in time for this year's celebration, Kylie Minogue (no stranger to lingerie) has a new video that reminded those behind the celebration of panties and boxers of days gone by as well..
OK, that's the trailer - since they'd rather not have people embedding it in blogs (and, oh, I dunno, promoting the song?) click below and be prepared to head to You Tube for the entire production.. and it is that..
Daisy Lowe in Esquire: She Gets Down, We Get The Low-Down on Her Lingerie
Model Daisy Lowe shows some lingerie moves (and in some instances more skin than we feature in fufL) in the July 2010 issue of the U.K. edition of Esquire Magazine. In the layout photographed by Greg Williams, she also shows off an impressive mish-mash of lingerie as in the above instance:
Her green lace bra is by Stella McCartney, her red 'knickers' by Agent Provocateur, the Babyloo mesh polka-dot bodysuit is by Fifi Chachnil, and her thigh-high blue socks are from Falke. Talk about your Joy of Sox. OK, you can get that idea from the cover, as well:

Selita's (Not So) Secret: Maxim June 2010
As she tweeted (twittered?) earlier this week:
@MsSelitaEbanks Who knew? http://tweetphoto.com/22343536You could make an argument that most people paying any attention to Ms. Ebanks would certainly have been in on that Secret even without Maxim's June 2010 cover and pictorial (original photos by Chris Fortuna).
You'd think she wouldn't have been fired from the latest season of Celebrity Apprentice given Donald Trump's taste in lingerie and ladies who model it, but we're guessing Ms. Ebanks will be just fine.
Miss USA 2010: The Lingerie Competition
In the past, beauty pageant contestants have gotten in trouble over revealing photos; This year, the Miss USA pageant is just cutting to the chase. Or, to the lingerie, as evidenced by the above image of Miss Missouri, Ashley Strohmier (well, it is the Show-Me state) and of Miss California, Nicole Michele Johnson (favored to win) below
Not that the idea of doing official glamour lingerie photos of each of the contestants has gone over well with all:
Miss Pennsylvania, Gina Cerilli (above) defended her photos and the idea, as did pageant owner Donald Trump. Anything for ratings in an age when you could argue these pageants are of less and less importance, and actresses and models are often seen in lingerie or less in more than a few magazines?
^Miss Connecticut, Ashley Bickford
Miss Colorado, Jessica Hartman v
^ Miss Maryland, Simone Feldman
Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih v
I'll leave that up to you in the Comments section. Obviously, I'm going to be biased in favor of more lingerie photos in the world, and looking over the the gallery of all the contestants as photographed beautifully by Fadil Berisha, my only question was: do I use all 51 photos in this post or not?
^ Miss Oregon, Kate Paul
Miss Kansas, Bethany Gerber v
^ Miss Virginia, Samantha Casey
Miss Tennessee, Tucker Perry v
^ Miss Delaware, Julie Citro
Miss Oklahoma, Moran Elizabeth Woolard v
^ Miss Wisconsin, Courtney Lopez
^ Miss Mississippi, Breanne Ponder
Miss New Hampshire, Nicole Houde v
^ Miss Nebraska, Belinda Wright
Miss Ohio, Amanda Tempel is my girlfriend's pick for the winner v
^ Miss New Jersey, Chenoa Greene (I know nothing of the contestants, but there's something about Ms. Greene I like. And, if she doesn't win? Well, the odds were already 50-to-1 against me guessing right who might win, and her odds are 50-1 anyway..)
My girlfriend's take on all this: If you're going to say this is a scholarship program, you're still living in the 1940's or earlier. If you're going to say it's a modern-day top model search, bring on the lingerie. I'll go along with that.

Lane Bryant Lingerie: Too Big (An Ad) For ABC and FOX?
I was going to skip the Lane Bryant 'Banned' Lingerie commercial story since so many others had covered it so well (among them Lingerie Addict and Jezebel - found via A Slip of a Girl) but, since it seems so many people are still interested in a lingerie-related topic, my two cents, and my girlfriend's five cents (I'll submit her's as worth more than mine).
First off, some disclosure. Neither of us are what you could call 'plus-sized', so we can't come at it from the angle of knowing anything about any judgments thrown in our direction. But when we both saw this on TV, we looked at each other and said 'she's supposed to be too fat?' We also heard about it before seeing the commercial, and were expecting something of maybe questionable taste. Not how it struck us at all. The thing that sold (so to speak) the idea/product were, of course, the images, and the woman's voice-over read on the line 'somehow, I don't think this is what Mom had in mind'. That and the model's look back to the camera as she goes out the door are perfection.
Then, there's the Lane Bryant Vs. VS - Victoria's Secret argument. My girlfriend and I are both quite the fans of lingerie, and we like Vicky's ads. BUT, we both look at them the same way: as over-blown-commercials-on-steroids FUN. I can't find it to source it here, but I've read critiques of them saying they've become a parody of themselves over the years. We both say: calm down, don't get your knickers in a knot and enjoy them. But here's where my girlfriend makes what I think is the best point. Think of some of those Victoria's Secret scenarios. Now think of the Lane Bryant ad's plot. Guess which one is far more real world? Well, as real-world as a TV commercial is going to get. Far more likely your girlfriend/wife/lover is going to show up for a nooner in a trench coat and lingerie than three or more models in bras and panties will go walking down your street toward you as almost-gale force winds whip their hair and explosions go off around them (but bless you, Michael Bay). Did someone at the networks find the ad 'threatening' because it seemed more 'real'?
As far as the scheduling, is there really a controversy, or is Lane Bryant really just playing this for all it's worth? Maybe both. I really don't remember if ABC and FOX have run ads for Vicky's during Dancing with the Stars and American Idol, but it seems pretty simple: if they did, but they wont' run the Lane Bryant ad, they're being weasels. If they didn't run the VS ads, it's their networks; they can accept or reject the ads as they wish. And Lane Bryant can take them anywhere else.
Was there or was there not a big to do over the earliest VS commercials getting 'censored', too? (I don't consider it censorship if a network won't play something; I'll call it censorship when some government agency won't let them run it).
It is going to play April 28th in the last few minutes of Idol. What do you want to bet the extra tune-in will be?
Three more things to note. Before this, how many people had heard of Lane Bryant's Cacique Lingerie Line? (I hadn't - and Lane Bryant seemed to be just another store at the mall where people my age didn't shop). If they were looking for a game-changer, this did it. Second and most importantly, there's a gorgeous woman named Ashley Graham who's suddenly getting a lot of well-deserved attention.
What's her take on all this? Check this post and video from NYC TV station WPIX on Stylist.
Oh, and finally? Dancing with the Stars not wanting lingerie seen during their show? Nah - couldn't be.

Olivia Munn Magazine
We've demonstrated before that Olivia Munn in lingerie is a great idea. As Ms. Munn describes the photo shoot at one point, 'girl, in underwear and bra'.. and the Dum Dum Pop she's sucking on happens to match her bra. What more, really, do you need to know? It's that attention to detail that will help Olivia Munn Magazine conquer the world of publishing. Or, at least sell a hell of a lot of copies at ten bucks a pop, so to speak.
