Since this week's theme (surprise) is inspired by my girlfriend wearing glasses, I harkened back to one of my favorite memories of when we were in college: Her doing homework in bed, surrounded by books, with her glasses on because she'd given up on her contacts for that day, and usually mostly undressed. I learned to recognize the coming 'A-Ha!' moment when she'd roll over to one side of the bed where she'd wheeled this rickety computer desk (with an equally rickety computer) and start furiously typing out a few paragraphs. My favorite part of this for some reason? The study breaks..
By the way, I'll give myself the Procrastination Post Award for this one; I originally started it as a draft in October of 2007(!), and never found just the right place for it. I don't know if Ms. Kreuk should feel insulted or honored..
For an irresistible Blue Monday, how about this Irresistible bra and high-waist panties from Jolidon's 2010 Fall/Winter Clandestine Collection? It even has Swarovski crystal highlights. Lest you look at the briefs and think 'granny panties', check the view from the other side..
From concept to design execution, modeling, photography and website, new lingerie line Nicole Gill Corsetry & Lingerie is just that: Beautiful. As her site says,
Nicole Gill Lingerie is a bespoke brand which specialises in authentic steel boned corsets and luxury lingerie pieces, using only the most elegant silks and laces. Each corset is handmade to exact measurements, ensuring that the body is shaped to perfection with an exquisitely cinched waist and silhouette. We aim to create unique lingerie pieces that make every woman feel elegant and beautiful.
Her first collection, called 'Welcome to the Tea-party' (as in Wonderland) is inspired by Victorian times (What? There's more than one way to spin that concept and lingerie, and this way is a much higher-end and hand-crafted line).
If she looks vaguely familiar, it may be because her line's model is her sister, Charlotte Emily Anne (Gill). You also can't log onto her site and not appreciate the wonderful photography and web design. Both are by an apparently multi-talented man by the name of James Kemp. A great addition to imaginative lingerie.
We're betting they already have it. Diesel's Fall/Winter 2010 Collections of just about anything, but for our purposes, especially their 'Intimates' are being promoted by the tag-line/theme of Be Stupid (Go ahead, click the link. It would be stupid if you didn't).
Aside from hip hipsters and pretty panties, they're also hawking their shades and other eyewear, which seem to afford some degree of privacy. As private as it gets when you're stripped to your camisole and panties with balloons and candle-lit cupcakes on a subway train, anyway..
If she had just read this post before a few books from her local library, she may have felt less exposed if she'd worn shades instead of her specs. Of course, if you're looking for better reading material..
Passionata's Passio line has a clean-but-still-detailed design to it. The lady is wearing the collection's push-up bra and matching briefs. You may think the best feature(s) are above. I'd say she'd be fine pushed-up or not, as long as you can also enjoy the feature below of the full-back ribbed cotton panties covering a very nice contour.
Who says enhancement - or thongs - are always good things? But, if you insist on judging the contrast..
Hopefully, you're wearing something special in celebration (and all those who insist commando is the way to go, go along just this once.. sort of like everyone being Irish on St. Patrick's Day).
The folks behind it, freshpair.com, are having their celebration on-line as opposed to taking over New York City's Times Square (above and below) as in years past (can't rain, no expensive NYC permits, parking's better, no one catches a cold, or gets arrested, right?) Considering we hold a celebration of lingerie and underwear on-line all the time, makes sense to us.
They also did a little research this year, and uncovered the following:
24% of American men have a lucky pair of underwear 40% of men prefer briefs and 10% boxers; the rest either are wearing trunks, boxers briefs, thongs, or nothing
34% of American women match their bras to their panties 26% of women prefer bikini briefs 21% of women prefer briefs 21% of women prefer thongs 18% of women prefer boyshorts 4% of women prefer other styles (so that's who's been buying bloomers..)
For those who don't care for the Nothing option, through August 14th you can enter to win part of 5000 pairs of underwear (as we speak, my girlfriend is not doubt signing up for a couple hundred more email accounts..)
OK, that's the trailer - since they'd rather not have people embedding it in blogs (and, oh, I dunno, promoting the song?) click below and be prepared to head to You Tube for the entire production.. and it is that..
You know how flowers like sun. The above Greta plunge bra and briefs by Freya seems to respond well. It's even in the flower-friendly color of Amethyst. Or, maybe more mineral-friendly? Either way, stone-beautiful.
Beautiful Brazilian Vanessa Fonesca in a variation of the same set of lingerie. I wasn't able to make a positive I.D. on the brand, but her pink and black bras and panties reminded me of a certain candy. Sweet enough.
Wear it; Prima Donna's Menton full-figure bra and Rio brief. Neither they or we are responsible for reaction should you choose to display them as the lady above, but we suspect it would involve increased popularity.
